As many of you already know, Chrissy is finishing her final days at CutThroat. She and Jens have made the decision to move back to Michigan to be closer to family. This is not out of the blue, this has been their plan all along but we are still very sad to see her go.

Katie and I have known Chrissy for the past 5 years. All of them through CrossFit and 4 of the 5 have been with CutThroat. I started coaching Chrissy at another CrossFit box before I made the jump to affiliating what is now CutThroat. Chrissy and Jens were our first members. They did workouts every night in my garage. Many of them included work outside during the months of October-February. Not a warm time in Colorado. We have many stories from the garage days but the “freezing Fran” is the most memorable to me. In 7 degree weather…we did Fran…basically outside…with the garage door open. Chrissy still crushed it. The guys traded the one gross pair of gloves to keep from getting frost bite while the girls just toughed it out (their nature of course).

Since then we have gone through so many crazy things: The CrossFit Open (and the CutThroat Intramural Open) every year, finishing Orthodontic School, getting a career, a pregnancy, and of course Cute Amelia as we all know her today. If you don’t know Chrissy personally, you do know her name from the Whiteboard. She’s one of THE most consistent athletes at the gym and her performance shows it. She’s also the one who beats her husband Jens every Saturday and makes sure he knows it 🙂

She struggled to get a muscle up for what must have seemed like an eternity to her but now she can do them tired at the end of a grueling WOD. All of the struggles are distant memories now as they have led to great success. Chrissy’s effort each day is inspiring.

We also now know that foam rolling is not comparable to flossing as I once tried to claim. “You still have to floss everyday!” Chrissy says.

Chrissy’s Story will remain on our site indefinitely.

We will all miss you Chrissy. Even the morning class will miss “Britney” Radio. We hope you’ll visit from time to time and we wish you all the best with your next chapter of life!
